§ 34-27. Repair, replacement of water main, meter; responsibility for costs.

  • (a)

    When it becomes necessary or desirable to repair or replace the existing water main leading into any premises, the city shall pay the cost of such repair or replacement from the city water main into and including the service box, and the owner or occupant of the premises shall pay the cost of such repair or replacement from the service box into the premises.

    (b)

    The expense of installing and maintaining meters will be borne by the city; provided, however, that where replacements, repairs or adjustments of a meter are made necessary by the acts, negligence or carelessness of the owner or occupant of the premises, the expense of the city caused thereby shall be charged and collected from the owner of the premises.
