§ 4.08. Nominations, Notice and Form.

    Prior to each regular City election and any special election to fill vacancies in city offices, the Clerk shall publish a notice setting forth the deadline for filing nominating petitions, which is 4 p.m. on the 15th Tuesday before the election, and the number of persons to be elected to each office.

    The method of nomination of the elective officials shall be by petition signed by not less than ten (10) qualified registered electors of the City. No person shall sign a greater number of petitions for candidates for office than the number of persons to be elected thereto. The signatures, if they bear the same date, shall not be counted upon any petition, and if they bear different dates, shall be counted in order of their priority of date for only so many candidates as there are persons to be elected.

    The form of petition shall be the form designated by the Secretary of State for the nomination of nonpartisan officials. The Clerk shall provide and maintain a supply of official petition forms.
